A Trip to Fallingwater

Going Green... it seems everyday you see and hear this catch phrase. Recently Laurie and I visited Frank Lloyd Wrights most acclaimed work Fallingwater. This place was designed and built in 1936 and what an amazing work of art and architecture for it's time. Wright designed and built the house into the Pennsylvania landscape and is suspended above a waterfall. When touring the house you feel like you are not even in the house. The design of the house visually pulls your attention to the amazing view of the landscape through glass walls. Here is a link to the Fallingwater website http://www.paconserve.org/fw-building.asp If you are ever in western Pennsylvania I would suggest stopping and learning about the history and how Frank Lloyd Wright designed and built the house. I am glad Laurie and I found the time to visit and tour Fallingwater. I consider this work of art as a "Green" house since its built into the landscape. Here is photo I took from our visit.
Till next entry .... Joe

Sneak Preview of my new project....

Well the past month of March has been a very busy one. I have been working on several projects including a new business venture/graphics project, helping out my friend and fellow photographer Joe Daylor photograph a wedding. You can check out some of the wedding photos at Joe's Blog http://jdaylor.blogspot.com/. I must say I have a new respect for creative wedding photographers.

Laurie, Maverick and I also have made trip back to Pennsylvania to visit our families and spoil our nieces and nephew. So now that I am recharged I am ready to to finish up and release my new business venture/graphics project. Here is an overview of what I am working on and going to release soon. I have developed a series of graphic elements for professional photographers to help enhance their images with simple graphic elements. So here is a sneak peak of a finished image with my graphics added to it. Thanks to Joe Daylor Photography for the image and check out Joe's blog with the link above. Let me know what you think...

The Joe and Joe Show

It’s been awhile since my last post. I have been extremely busy with life, work and more work. The past 2 weeks I have been working around the clock with photo shoots, and preparing for the ASPN.com annual meeting. One of my projects for the ASPN.com annual meeting was to build a new backdrop to present to our dealers. Well back in November Joe Daylor (an ASPN.com Dealer) and I decided to tackle this project together. As you will see in our homemade video we made an impressive background and we created some amazing images. The other awesome thing about this video is once Joe Daylor placed the video on http://www.youtube.com/ another popular bog for photographers called the http://www.strobist.com/ picked up our how to video and placed it on their site raving on how great of an idea this was. So check it out and don’t laugh too hard at the Joe and Joe Show.

Afternoon with Maverick

Wow… I can’t believe how life can get so busy at times. I found sometime on Saturday afternoon to go in the backyard and play around with my boy Maverick. As most of you know Maverick is our boxer and he is ball of energy. One of the best ways to play him out is put him in the backyard with his Jolly Ball! Maverick will play for hours with this toy running around the yard. While we were spending time together I got my camera out and took some shots of him while he played. This shot stuck out while I was editing the images so I added some artistic flare and this is what I got…

Till next time..
Joe

Now 9 months later here is Tucker (what a cool name)...can't wait until we get back to Pennsylvania to hold the little guy and take some pictures! Jill and Jerry hold a special place in my heart they are an amazing couple and will make great parents. It’s just hard to believe my little sister is now a mommy.

Logo Design for Joe Daylor Photography

I met Joe Daylor 4 years ago when Laurie and I moved to Florida. Joe has been a great friend and mentor when it comes to photography. He has been a great teacher and has allowed me to use my God given talents when it comes to photography and design. Joe recently asked me to redesign his logo for his photography business. His only request was he wanted something modern, elegant and something with an edge....sounds easy enough huh? Well after coming up with 7 logo ideas he has picked 2 logos that I am going to work with some more to come up with his final logo. So I just wanted to share with you all the 2 logos that Joe has picked. Let me know what you think.

Blue water and bottle

This is one of my recent photo studies...there will be more to come. This photo is a result of my light painting techniques.
I enjoy the art of light painting with my camera. Most of you are sitting here reading this thinking what the hell is light painting... let me explain...
Light Painting is a photography technique that uses long exposures and direct or limited light source on the subject...example a very dark room, a camera and a flash light. Most of the time Laurie (my wife) thinks I am crazy for locking myself in the garage or office with the lights out taking pictures...but for some reason when I am done she is always impressed with my images.

For this image I placed a wine bottle and filled it with water. I then placed food coloring in the water and started my shots.
I was in total darkness and my exposures were about 20 seconds . During the exposure I used my flashlight and my flash to light the subject.

Photography and Design

I think this blog will give me a reason to go out and find new stuff to photograph. As most of you know I enjoy photography and design and I love sharing my work with others. I hope you all enjoy what I post and I hope I get some good feedback.

Welcome

Hello and welcome to my new blog. I have great intentions to keep up with this blog so family and friends can stay in touch and be part of my life. All of my family and majority of my friends are still in Pennsylvania so its hard to stay in touch with everyone.
